Shaab Sataya

Shaab Satya is also known as “Dolphin Reef.” It is approximately 1.5 km long and offers a variety of dive sites.   For discerning divers, it’s certainly not a top-tier reef for day dives in terms of marine life. But the large, resident pod of spinner dolphins makes it a highlight. The dolphins are very commonly found in the large lagoon. It’s rarely possible to dive with the dolphins at Shaab Satya, but snorkelers have a very good chance of having long and intense encounters with them.   At the southeastern tip is an impressively steep drop-off, which isn’t particularly well-covered in marine life. There are three larger grottoes in the drop-off. What’s truly beautiful, however, is the narrow plateau at the southern tip, located between 7 and 23 meters. A dense growth of soft and hard corals, together with large schools of yellow sea bream, ensures a varied dive. Three beautiful ergs are ideal for the safety stop at the anchorage.   Shaab Sataya offers several quiet, safe overnight anchorages. During night dives, you’ll often encounter a sea turtle or Spanish dancers, masked pufferfish, or nocturnal squid.
