The liveaboard

Katana in profile

The Katana is the first safari yacht of its kind in the Red Sea—50 meters of luxury that combines the freedom of the open sea with the luxury of a five-star resort. A luxurious interior, modern, spacious cabins, expansive lounges for relaxation, and an exclusive gourmet kitchen offer the utmost in comfort, while the experienced, professional crew fulfills your every wish. Welcome to a new era of exclusive liveaboard diving—for everyone seeking the perfect balance between thrills and comfort.

Cabins

The Katana comfortably accommodates up to 26 divers—who’ll sleep like a baby. The cabins are spread across three decks and offer plenty of comfort. On the lower deck, there are two cabins with single beds that can be pushed together if needed—perfect for friends or couples. There are also two cabins with a queen-size bed and an additional sofa bed—great if you’re traveling with family, as this provides space for two more guests. On the main deck, you’ll find two more cabins with single beds (which can also be pushed together) and two with queen-size beds. The High Deck offers four more cabins: two with fixed single beds that cannot be pushed together, and two with flexible single beds. And then there’s a comfortable suite (VIP Room) with a sofa. All cabins average about 15m² in size and are fully equipped with a private bathroom, minibar, TV, smoke detector, safe, and full air conditioning with individual thermostat control.

Dining

The food on board is varied and served buffet-style. If you have any special requests—such as vegetarian meals or food allergies—please let us know at the time of booking so our chef can prepare accordingly.

The dining area is located on the High Deck and seats up to 34 people. It features three smart TVs and a high-quality Bose sound system. Daily briefings take place in the lounge on the same deck. The lounge is equipped with two additional TVs for cozy movie nights. There is also a bar and a chill lounge area on the Upper Deck.

Sun Deck

The spacious sun deck, with plenty of seating, is perfect for relaxing or dining al fresco. A DJ booth with a modern sound system provides musical entertainment when desired. Comfortable and modern loungers and chaise longues are available for sunbathers.

Diving Deck

The well-equipped dive deck ensures safety and comfort. Essential facilities for dive preparation, equipment dryers, and four oxygen tanks for emergencies are available. Charging stations for cameras and batteries, as well as an outdoor shower after the dive, make the liveaboard experience even more enjoyable. There are also two functional restrooms on board.

Diving:
For an additional fee and with advance registration, PADI AOWD and Nitrox courses can be completed on board. The dive deck is very spacious. Here, everyone can comfortably prepare for their dive without crowding. Two Zodiacs are stored on the lower dive platform.

As a general rule, all overnight stays are on the liveaboard. In exceptional cases (depending on the boat’s occupancy schedule), the last night may be spent in a 3- or 4-star hotel (depending on the arrangement) on a half-board basis.

Each guest must bring the following equipment and documents:

  • Diver’s license/certification
  • Dive log
  • Medical certificate no older than one year
  • Dive computer
  • Signal buoy
  • 2 copies of your passport
  • Diving accident insurance (can also be purchased on board for 7 EUR per person, but is not comprehensive diving insurance)

Required equipment and participation requirements:
To participate in our liveaboard trips, you must have completed a diving certification and provide proof of at least 30 logged dives. For trips to marine parks, proof of 50 logged dives is required. Your last dive should not have been more than 1 year ago. If these requirements are not met, or if a participant’s diving skills are deemed insufficient for the conditions, our dive guides reserve the right to exclude the participant from specific dives or, in exceptional cases, even from the majority of the dives offered.

Diving & Activities:

The maximum diving depth prescribed by Egyptian law and CDWS regulations is 30 meters. Under certain conditions, however, extensions to 40 meters are permitted. This requires a Deep Dive certification. Technical diving and rebreather diving must be registered in advance and are only permitted with the appropriate qualifications, experience, insurance, and an additional guide. This also applies to freediving. Night diving, as well as swimming and snorkeling, are prohibited in marine park areas. Access to islands is not permitted. Permission for snorkeling and swimming activities is granted by the cruise director and captain depending on conditions (weather, currents, waves, sharks, etc.).

Group Offer:

When booking for seven people, the eighth person is free but must pay the incidental fees.

Snorkelers and swimmers pay the full safari price!
