Want to go a little deeper—and, above all, stay down longer? Sure, you can! Definitely with our decompression dive, and to make sure things don’t go completely haphazard, you’ll need a little knowledge about decompression. Veronika Sievers from the Punkfish Academy demonstrates very vividly that, despite all the technical details, this doesn’t have to be boring: after all, diving is first and foremost about having fun. This passionate dive instructor has been dedicated to technical diving, instructor training, and dive theory for years, and in addition to her in-depth knowledge, she has a wealth of practical experience.
Those who already make more challenging dives independently will find the right buddies on board. But even those who just want to get a taste of deeper dives and decompression dives will be well taken care of: step by step, we’ll work our way toward the dives everyone wants to do.
The Omneia Spirit is perfectly equipped for this endeavor with ample oxygen and boosters, ensuring that any desired mixture is available. Upon request, twin tanks, sidemount tanks, and even rebreather support can be arranged.
In addition to the dive program—which typically consists of three dives per day—the safari includes a series of lectures on various aspects of decompression theory. Whether the focus is on the basics or discussing the perfect ascent, or whether the emphasis is more on DCS or on practical diving, the program is tailored to the interests of the fellow travelers. As the author of “Decompression Theory—Decompression in Diving,” published in 2025 by Zeisig Verlag, Veronika Sievers of the “Punkfish Academy” can accommodate (almost) any request.

For all courses, it is recommended to schedule at least one day of confined-water training in Hurghada before the tour. Prices and the specific itinerary are available upon request at info@punkfish-diving.com
Of course, training in the use of decompression gases can also be completed onboard. To keep the theoretical portion manageable during the week-long trip, you have the option to prepare adequately in advance through self-study and webinars, so that the focus onboard can be on answering any remaining questions and on practical training. The following services are included in the tour price per person:
- Accommodation in a half-double cabin on the lower deck with shower and toilet
- Full board (including water, tea, Nescafé, filter coffee for breakfast, Fanta, Sprite, Coke, and Coke Zero)
- Full board begins with dinner on the day of arrival and ends with breakfast on the day of departure
- Check-in on the day of arrival at 4:00 p.m.
- Check-in on the boat takes place starting at 4:00 PM on the day of arrival. Departure from the harbor takes place the following day, once the harbor master has cleared the boat
- Check-out on the day of departure at 9:00 a.m. (cabin), 12:00 p.m. (boat)
- The boat returns to the harbor in the afternoon before departure. On the day of departure, check-out begins at 9:00 a.m. (cabin) and 12:00 p.m. (boat)
- Diving: up to four dives per day; two dives on the last day; one 12-liter aluminum tank, weights, and a guide
- 32% nitrox for free
- If the nitrox system is unavailable for technical reasons, there is no entitlement to a refund
- ENOS provided free of charge

The following services per person are not included in the tour price:
- Cabin surcharge per person:
- Suite (Lower Deck/Main Deck/Upper Deck Cabin) 80 EUR
- Upper Deck Master Suite: 200 EUR
- Suites can only be booked by two people traveling together
- Single Cabin No. 8, Main Deck: 370 EUR
- Double cabin for single occupancy: 70% surcharge on the safari price
- Visa: 35 EUR (including airport and baggage service), payable on site

We would like to inform you that in the event of a cancellation of the liveaboard shortly before the trip begins (1 week in advance), the incidental costs that are payable on site will also be charged (excluding transfers). All permits are applied for at least one week before the start of the liveaboard and are paid for by us in advance in Egypt.

This tour is weather- and wind-dependent. In strong winds, some wrecks may not be accessible.
Program:
In addition to the diving program—which typically consists of three dives per day—the safari includes a lecture series covering various aspects of decompression theory. To ensure the days aren’t too exhausting after diving, the main program features an interesting and entertaining series of short lectures: What do we really know about the connection between bubbles and DCS? What are these gradient factors, and can we say with certainty which ones are the safest? And why is it supposedly so beneficial to eat dark chocolate and jump on a trampoline before diving?
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to measure bubbles after some or all dives and compare the results with their own dive profiles. An experienced diving physician will accompany the tour and will be available to answer these and other questions.
Of course, training in the use of decompression gases can also be conducted on board. To keep the theory manageable during the one-week course, participants have the option to prepare adequately in advance through self-study and webinars, so that the focus on board can be on addressing open questions and practical training.
Diving: Night dives, as well as swimming and snorkeling, are prohibited in the marine parks!
